SCOTLAND'S FIRST FREE FUNGI FESTIVAL!
What is the Edinburgh Fungi Festival?
The Edinburgh Fungi Festival is a FREE, all-ages festival where science, art, ecology, and community come together to celebrate Scottish fungi.
-
We bring together mycologists, foragers, artists, and the public (YOU!) to experience the diverse world of Kingdom Fungi in order to grow and strengthen local connections to Scottish wildlife. No prior knowledge required - curiosity encouraged!
-
All day (Saturday-Sunday) October 3-4. Exact programme timings to be announced (See Programme).
-
A weekend full of presentations, workshops, and forays led by pioneers in the field and the community, a market bustling with local vendors and artists, and good food and conversation.
-
In the Nucleus Building - an award-winning, fully accessible education hub opened in 2022 (see Venue). Forays will venture into surrounding woodlands - notably, Blackford Hill and Craigmillar Castle Park.
-
Scotland is home to a wide variety of unique fungi and lichen, innovative mycological research, and creative ways of relating with fungi through art and storytelling. In many other countries around the world, fungi festivals have begun popping up and expanding exponentially - resulting in a popular mycology boom. For more, see About.
Discover the world beneath your feet…
At a curious, community-rooted festival where science, art, local knowledge, and everyday wonder meet!
